Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is frequently misdiagnosed, poorly understood & spread across too many specialists. It needs coordinated, long-term attention that a 15-minute appointment can't provide. What Is Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS)?
The Ehlers-Danlos syndromes are a group of inherited connective tissue disorders. There are 13 types. Hypermobile EDS (hEDS) is by far the most common.
Connective tissue supports your skin, joints, blood vessels & organs, so EDS can affect the whole body. That's why it often shows up in many places at once and goes unrecognized for years.
There's no genetic test for hEDS yet. Diagnosis is clinical, based on established criteria. People with symptomatic joint hypermobility who don't meet EDS criteria may have a hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD), which deserves the same thoughtful care.

Common Questions
1 / Can PICM diagnose Ehlers-Danlos syndrome?
We provide comprehensive evaluation & diagnosis support. For hypermobile EDS, diagnosis is clinical, based on established criteria. For other types, genetic testing may be needed, and we'll coordinate a referral to a geneticist.
2 / I already have an EDS diagnosis. Can you still help?
Yes. Many of our patients come to us after diagnosis, needing someone to coordinate their specialists & make sense of the full picture.
3 / Do I have to stop seeing my specialists?
No. You keep your current specialists. We work with them, share information & serve as your primary point of contact.
4 / Do you see children with EDS?
We care for patients ages 10 & up.
5 / Do you accept insurance?
